The Arts Society Guildford working with South Western Railway and The Lightbox Gallery, have just installed the latest Art @ the station exhibition in Woking station's Waiting Room on platform 5. Woking is the major hub for the south west region and has an amazing 8 million passengers starting or finishing their journeys at the station so we should have a sizeable audience!

The work displayed is from a variety of community programmes at The Lightbox, Woking's Gallery and Museum and includes work from: the Art in Mind project which was recently funded by 8 West Surrey Societies and a Patricia Fay Grant: Centrepiece an art competition for local schools funded by The Arts Society Mayford: New Beginnings which works with women in touch with the criminal justice system and a schools project working with the Lightbox' permanent collection for inspiration.

This is the fourth station to have an Art @ the station exhibition in their Waiting Room, the others include: Guildford, Farnham and Haslemere.

Gino Johnson, Duty Manager, Woking station, said  'I'm excited to have Art @ the station at Woking and to have such an interesting exhibition in the Waiting Room to brighten passengers' day whilst waiting for their trains'.
Heather Thomas, Learning and Engagement Manager, The Lightbox, said ' We are thrilled to be able to exhibit some of the great work produced by our community workshop projects. It gives the artists an extra lift and sense of achievement to be able to see their work in a public space for all to enjoy.'

Sian Davis, Chair, The Arts Society Guildford, said ' I'm so delighted that this great initiative is gaining momentum and the Woking launch with work from diverse community projects, demonstrates that art is important to our well-being and that we can all gain fulfilment from either making or appreciating art.'
