Annual General Meeting 2019
Annual General Meeting 2019
20 May 2019
Thank you to those who attended last week's Annual General Meeting at Friends House, London, and to those who followed the day on social media.
It was a packed programme which kicked off with the presentation of the Marsh Awards to some very deserving volunteers. Members enjoyed a fascinating lecture on the dramatic divorce between art and architecture in the mid-20th century, presented by Richard Whincop, a lively Q&A session and a panel discussion in which we posed the questions; Should The Arts Society campaign for arts education? How could we make a difference? (We want to know your thoughts too! Email agm@theartssociety.org with your ideas).
We showed some short films - now available to view on our YouTube channel - which highlight four inspirational initiatives organised by The Arts Society Nadder Valley, The Arts Society Truro, The Arts Society Tyneside and The Arts Society Clapham Common.
In addition, Arts Society Chief Executive, Florian Schweizer thanked Members who donated so generously towards his challenge to run fifty 10km routes during 2018. Together we raised £30,000 towards the Patricia Fay Memorial Fund, which helps to preserve our artistic heritage, support the skills of artists and makers, and improve access to the arts for all. A short film is available here.
Photos of the day can be viewed below.
