Trailblazers times Two in Tickhill!
The Arts Society Dukeries invited children from both primary schools in Tickhill to a Launch Day at St Mary’s Church, Tickhill to trial the new Trail of Discovery for the church. Year 6 from Estfeld Primary School visited in the morning and Year 4 from St Mary’s C of E Primary School came in the afternoon. They were the trailblazers – the first ever children to follow the trail which leads you round the church by asking questions about local history, architecture, stained glass etc. All the children worked really hard to find the answers and had a great time discovering new information. The event finished with the awarding of stickers and certificates to the children and refreshments were provided by the church to everyone who attended.
The trail is now available to everyone and makes a great school holiday activity for children aged approximately eight to twelve. It can be downloaded from posters in Tickhill, for example at Castlegate Cards. It is also available in the church, which is open every day.
The Arts Society Dukeries is grateful to Tickhill Town Council who provided a grant to support the production of the trail.
