Purpose of Role
The Young Arts Representative should encourage the Society to set up Young Arts Projects; arts related activities for an individual or a number of young people funded wholly or partly by the Society.
Responsibilities
Projects
- Using the Young Arts Handbook for guidance, identifying a project and suggesting it to the Committee
- Seeking matched funding if required
- Visiting the project while it is in progress and taking high quality photographs
- Completing the Young Arts Project Form giving details of the Society's sponsorship of YA Projects and returning it to the Volunteering Department each year
Communications
- Liaising with the artist, school or project venue to set the project up
- Reporting to the Society Committee and the Area Young Arts Representative
- Attending the yearly meeting arranged by the Area Representative and reporting as required
Publicity
- Informing the membership about the current project/s with a display of photographs or the young people's work at lectures, or by inviting the artist/young people to give a short presentation
- Publicising the Society's Young Arts projects eg in the local press, the Arts Society Magazine & the Society's and Area's websites
Other
- Finding a successor and arranging a handover period, ideally of six months before stepping down
Expenses
- Expenses incurred for telephone, postage, photocopying and travel to negotiate new projects, may be met by the Society
