Join a friendly group of art enthusiasts with art historian Dr Geri Parlby as we explore the radical artistic transformations of the Victorian era and the birth of Impressionism.

One day weekly for 5 weeks (10.30am to 3.30pm) starting in February 2027.

Tues 23rd Feb - Rebels, Radicals & Arts and Crafts. 

Further evolution to the Arts and Crafts movement and the work of William Morris and Edward Burne-Jones as they fight industrialisation. 

Tues 2nd Mar -  Art with a Social Conscience
See how George Watts, Luke Fildes, Hubert von Herkomer, and Frank Holl used art to confront poverty, injustice, and the harsh realities of industrial life.

Tues 9th Mar -  Painting Modern Life: The Impressionist Revolution

Discover how Claude Monet, Edgar Degas, Mary Cassatt, Suzanne Valadon and Auguste Renoir captured the fleeting rhythms of modern Paris.
 

Tues 16th Mar -  Neo-Impressionism and New Experiments

Explore how Georges Seurat and Paul Signac revolutionised colour and composition and how Paul Cézanne became ‘the mother and father of modern art’.
