The Relationship Between Terrorism and Art Smuggling

by Arthur Brand

Dear Members and Guests,

We invite you to join us for a lecture given by Arthur Brand on ‘The Relationship Between Terrorism and Art Smuggling ’ in the Atrium on Tuesday 8th December 2026 at 20.00 hours.

Cultural property, art and antiquities smuggling is a global crime that enables criminals to profit from stolen history, launder money, and fund terrorism.  In this fascinating lecture we will learn about the (under)world of art smuggling from a world authority in the field.

For 15 years, Arthur Brand has been an art detective. His consultancy, Artiaz, helps clients establish the authenticity and provenance of pieces. But he is better known as 'the Indiana Jones of art', recovering artefacts like the 'Hitler’s Horses' bronze statues, a painting by Pablo Picasso, and a ring that belonged to Oscar Wilde.  He has featured in the television show 'De Kunstdetective' and his book, 'Hitler’s Horses', has been translated into 15 languages and optioned for film by MGM.

We are hoping that Members and Guests will take the opportunity to come to the Atrium.

For those unable to be present at the Atrium, this lecture will also be streamed via Zoom, but only to those who registered in advance.

You are requested to sign up for the lecture beforehand, also if you are coming to join us in person at the Atrium, by clicking on the sentence at the 'How to book' section.
