A group of artists, later known as Impressionists, were frequent visitors and sometime residents in five neighbouring villages along this tiny section of the river Seine, west of Paris. It was an escape from the claustrophobia of the mid-19th century city. This lively and entertaining lecture explores the early works and lives of Monet, Renoir, Pissarro, Sisley and Morisot.
