How, over time, the relationship between actor and audience transformed the space and architecture of theatre
This lecture looks at how, over time, the relationship between actor and audience transformed the space and architecture of theatre as it evolved into a lively, varied and beautiful art form, from the innovative Greeks to court theatre via pageants, masques, liturgical drama and the science of perspective. The Commedia dell’Arte, the Elizabethan stage of the Globe and Fortune, the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, all played significant roles in this evolutionary history.
