Chester hotel features in our October lecture

1 Oct 2025

The former Redland House Hotel, Hough Green, just 5 miles from our lecture venue, begins the story of our next lecture on Tues 21st October.  Extensive research showed that a bed, removed during building work, was not a Victorian artefact, as first thought, but goes back to Tudor times.  The marital bed of Henry VII and his wife, Elizabeth of York, is an ornate masterpiece featuring royal arms and symbols of fertility among its carvings.  Jonathan Foyle’s talk will cover its discovery and authentication.
