Arts Society North Bucks support for the Village Schools Federation

29 Sep 2025

The Village Schools Federation in North Bucks consists of a group of six small schools – Castlethorpe First School, Newton Blossomville CE First School, North Crawley CE School, Sherington CE School, St Andrew’s CE Infant School Great Linford, and Stoke Goldington CE School.

During the summer term 2025, the children in all six schools had been learning about Africa. At the end of the term, the Federation staff decided to set up an African Drumming Workshop for all the children to take part in.

The event was made possible with financial support from the schools’ PTAs and The Arts Society North Bucks and was a great finale to a term’s worth of learning about Africa.

The children learnt how to make different sounds and rhythms and how to conduct a group of drummers. The workshop offered an opportunity for children from all six small schools to share the experience and to join together in a final performance for families and friends. It was lots of fun and a great way to bring all the schools together. The day was definitely a special experience for everyone to enjoy and remember.

The Executive Head of the Village Schools Federation, Emma Wallace, has sent the Arts Society a message of thanks for our support for the event. It’s a pleasure to see these photos of the children enjoying taking part in the workshop.
