Welcome to The Arts Society in N. Ireland

Welcome to The Arts Society in N.Ireland!

The Arts Society in N.Ireland is a friendly society, welcoming new Members and Visitors with an interest in decorative and fine arts.  We are part of The Arts Society (formerly known as the National Association of Decorative and Fine Arts - NADFAS), with a global network of 370 local societies and a membership of approximately 63,000.

Bringing people together through this shared interest in the arts, we enjoy a programme of eight high standard, illustrated Talks each year.  Topics are diverse and include sculpture, textiles, paintings, ceramics, garden design, silver, music, literature and more.  All our Speakers are specialists in their field and each one is chosen by the Arts Society to deliver a talk that informs, educates and entertains.

Members receive a free copy of The Arts Society magazine three times a year, which is packed with exclusive features, interviews, news and opinions from the arts world.

As one of our Members said;

"Of all the Lectures I have listened to over the years it has been the Lectures on subjects that were previously unknown to me that have given me the most pleasure"

We usually have 8 Lectures per season, which runs from September to April. Our Talks are held at Malone Presbyterian Church, 452 Lisburn Road, Belfast BT9 6GT - see Lecture list below for times and dates.  Members and Visitors are invited to enjoy a complimentary cup of tea/coffee & a biscuit after the Lecture and a chance to chat with fellow members and the Lecturer.

VISITS MADE IN 2025 & 2026

Our Society had a most enjoyable Private Visit to Baronscourt, Co Tyrone, the Seat of the Dukes of Abercorn, in May 2025.

In May 2026 we had an excellent Private Guided Tour of Florence Court, the former seat of the Earls of Enniskillen. The guide was our very own N.Ireland Arts Society member, Shannon Fraser. Shannon is the Cultural Heritage Curator for the National Trust in N.Ireland. She had recently overseen the re-hanging of most of the works of art in Florence Court and knows Florence Court inside out. As well as being introduced to the wonderful Art, Furniture and Objects d'Art she was able to relate some facinating stories about the Coles, the family name of the Earls & Countesses of Enniskillen!
