Susan Bishop will provide an intimate look at the fashions of the 1920s at Barkers Department store, Kensington, London. Drawing on an historic album of photographs and promotional material, Susan will paint a picture of the spectacular fashion shows held at the store. Barkers' Chairman, Sir Sydney Skinner, was groundbreaking in building a Fashion Display Hall with a catwalk, unique in its day, to entice customers to view the latest season’s fashions. Celebrity supermodels of the period are pictured in theatrical fashions, which were then promoted in the daily press.
