An excellent outing close to home when some of our members visited Beverley Minster for the "Threads" exhibition featuring "Through Creation" and "Through the Cross". The largest textile project for 600 years is the work of textile artist Jacqui Parkinson and is a spectacular representation of the story of Creation and of the life of Jesus. (The third part of the trilogy, "Revelation", was not featured for lack of space. This is on show at other venues.)
Created with hand-dyed silks, metallic threads, gold leaf and millions of stitches, Jacqui's work combines breathtaking scale with exquisite detail.
We rounded the visit off with a very nice lunch at Kavanagh's cafe where they looked after us very well.
Thanks to Megan Price for organising the outing.
