STUDY COURSE ORGANISER ROLE

STUDY COURSE ORGANISER ROLE

31 Aug 2025

The GLA has successfully run study days in central London of many years. We are totally dependent on a team of volunteer Study Course Organisers (SCO) to innovate, organise and execute the days. It’s a popular and fulfilling role that takes relatively little time and suits those with a passion for the arts who want to learn more, meet people and have fun at the same time.

Basic computer skills are all that is needed. Any support needed to get started will be readily available from the rest of the team

There is no pressure to run more study days than you want to. Realistically a minimum of two a year is probably enough to get the most out of it.

The choice of topic and the lecturer for the study day is decided by you in consultation with the coordinator and bearing in mind what has been organised in the recent past. The date is negotiated with the lecturer and the calendar for the coming year before the venues is booked. Initially there will be an induction and training followed by an opportunity to shadow another experienced SCO before you would be expected to fly solo. It is a great opportunity for learning and personal development.

The SCOs meet twice a year, once by Zoom and once in person but there is always someone to talk to and get help from.

All reasonable expenses are reimbursed and as an SCO you get free access, if there is availability, to any of the other study days being held.
