FREEDOM AT LAST!

Hambleton Arts Society is rejoicing in the success of our first organised visit for nearly three years. We have survived the Covid clampdown, thanks to our ZOOM programme, and now a return to lovely Solberge Hall supported by HYBRID transmission to our acquired online audience. However, organised visits with Art related social interaction were still missing.  Our choice for this first trip out was a day with a double visit to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park and the Hepworth Gallery at Wakefield; numbers being limited to give comfort and reassurance during coach trip.

Weather was just right for walking around the sculptures set in the vistas of Yorkshire’s very own Sculpture Park, explained by our most knowledgeable and articulate guide. Continuing on to the Hepworth Gallery Wakefield, a celebration of modern and contemporary at the hometown of Barbara was a delight. With its tribute collection to celebrate this renowned artist, there are also many other famous modern artists on display. Again, excellent guides were on hand to talk us through the exhibits in two groups. The built-in flexibility to follow individual interests during both visits was much appreciated by those attending. 

The organisers received a flurry of congratulations from participants with comments such as “We had a fabulous guide who spoke with knowledge and enthusiasm about the exhibits and introduced us to artworks both familiar and new.”  “It was an incredible day, made possible through careful planning and attention to detail!”  “Also, a special thanks from Margaret to Clive for taking care of her with the mobility scooter!” “…..particular thanks to Sue, Clive and Ian who were very encouraging on my first trip out for ages”
