Success Stories: BathIRON festival

With a grant given by The Arts Society the National Heritage Ironwork Group were able to undertake the BathIRON festival of Ironwork.

The project was aimed at engaging new audiences with traditional  ironworking techniqies and providing professional development for emerging practitioners.
Participants took part in forging alongside Master Craftsmen and creating a new bandstand balustrade designed by Master Blacksmiths.
The event saw over  500 participants have a go at the traditional craft and over 8000 members of the public visited the festival over the four days it was open.
The newly forged bandstand balustrade is comprised of 8 musically themed panels designed specifically for the bandstand at Parage Gardens in Bath.
