Pots and Frocks: the World of Grayson Perry, Britain's Favourite Transvestite

Widely known for his appearances as his alter ego, Claire, Grayson Perry RA is a core part of the art establishment. His works in ceramics, textiles and prints are highly sought. This talk examines the artist's work and looks at the character inside the flamboyant frocks.

 

ABOUT THE LECTURER

Mr Ian Swankie

A Londoner with a passion for art and architecture. He is an official guide at Tate Modern, Tate Britain, Guildhall Art Gallery and St Paul's Cathedral, and gives regular tours at each venue. Also a qualified and active freelance London guide and a member of both the City of London and Westminster Guide Lecturer Associations. Clients include WEA groups, Transport for London, the National Trust and London Open House. In 2012 he established a weekly independent art lecture group in Richmond and gives talks on a variety of subjects.

 

The Arts Society Poole meets monthly for interesting and often amusing talks on a wide variety of arts subjects.

The talks are given by lecturers with the finest credentials in their specialist fields.

There are nine lectures each year (October to June) held at 2.15pm usually on the third Friday of the month in Canford Cliffs Village Hall. The Society also organises a series of events and visits during the same period.
