Fishbourne Roman Palace near Chichester, is the largest residential Roman building discovered in Britain and has an unusually early date of 75 AD, about thirty years after the Roman conquest of Britain. Fine mosaics have survived, and discoveries made on the site are displayed in the museum.
Stansted Park, standing in 1800 acres of parkland was donated to the public in 1983 by the 10th Earl of Bessborough, together with its contents. The state rooms are furnished as though the Earl was still at home giving the visitor a real sense of a bygone era.
We shall enjoy a guided tour at each of these venues.
