An introduction to the senior livery companies of London, their medieval origins and their role in  modern society. 

This lecture is an introduction to the senior livery companies of London, their medieval origins and their role in modern society. Some companies maintain fine Livery Halls with historical and art treasures. They support charitiable causes and paly an imporrtnat role in education. Only Liverymen and Liverywomen may elect the Lord Mayor and Sheriffs of London. 

THE ARTS SOCIETY ACCREDITED LECTURER

Mrs Fenella Billington

Joined Wirral DFAS in 1983. Masters Degree in Art History, Manchester University. Lecturer for the University of Liverpool's Continuing Education Programme for Adults. Has guided tours to Rome and Florence, and been a speaker on cruises. Gives freelance talks to art societies, historical associations and charitable institutions, including the Art Fund, U3A and the National Trust. Is a Liverywoman of the Worshipful Company of Skinners of London.
