ART UK: UNCOVERING THE NATION’S HIDDEN OIL PAINTING COLLECTION

Art UK was set up to catalogue our national collection of oil paintings. This lecture will offer an insider’s view of this unique project.

Art UK was set up to catalogue our national collection of oil paintings. It involved visiting over 3,000 public collections and photographing over 200,000 paintings - many of which have been hidden away for decades. The lecture, offering an insider’s view of this unique project, will include several paintings of local interest.

Followed by our ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING.

THE ARTS SOCIETY ACCREDITED LECTURER

Mrs Mary Rose Rivett-Carnac

Gained a 1st class honours degree in History of Art & English Literature, and an MA (Distinction) in Victorian Media & Culture from Royal Holloway, University of London. Has written several arts- related articles and is a guide at Dorich House Museum, studio-home of the Russian sculptor Dora Gordine, and at Turner’s House in Twickenham. Since 2007 has worked part-time for the acclaimed arts project, Art UK. (www.artuk.org)
