Compton Verney is is a grand 18th century country house set in a magnificent Capability Brown parkland. It is famous for housing one of the the UK’s finest art collections, including the unique British Folk art collection that ranges from pub signs to teapots to the work of Alfred Wallis. There are picnic facilities and a cafe where lunch can be obtained. However, refreshments are not included in the ticket price.
Our visit includes a private guided tour of the main art collection and entry to the exhibition: Painting Childhood, From Holbein to Lucian Freud that celebrates children, childhood and innocence by bringing together some of the most iconic paintings, sketches and sculptures of children including works by Hans Holbein the Younger, Van Dyck, Jan Steen, Murillo, William Hogarth, Gainsborough, Millais, Stanley Spencer, Louise Bourgeois and Lucian Freud.
