My Golden Moment Celebration

My Golden Moment Celebration

10 Aug 2018

The Young Arts Area Coordinator for Chiltern Hills and Wyvern set up a partnership with the Bucks County Museum for display space for 4 weeks during the schools Easter holidays. All societies within these Areas were invited to submit artwork produced by young people, with the theme of My Golden Moment to celebrate the Arts Society Jubilee. Amersham, Ballinger, Chalfont, Chiltern, Gerrard’s Cross, West Wycombe, Abingdon, Buckingham, North Bucks and West Oxon all participated. Art work from Bishops land and the Koestler trust who are in receipt of Area awards was also displayed.

The High Sheriff, Peter Kara, opened the exhibition in the Georgian Room at the County Museum, Aylesbury at 10.30am on Saturday 17th March. Denise Topolski, The Arts Society’s national head of Young Arts, presented the awards and after that there was a reception for all entrants, Society Chairmen and Young Arts Representatives.

A photograph of every entry was exhibited as well as the originals of the winning entries for the exhibition. Every entrant received an Arts Society badge and a signed certificate.  Art supplies were donated to the winning entrants and their schools.  The Museum ran a competition where the public were asked to identify their favourite entry and to give the reason why.

This event provided opportunity for submission from many of our volunteers and outreach to a wide public. We celebrated the work of The Arts Society for our young people.
